Click goes the camera… and his lens rolls out yet another aesthetic picture… An IT geek by profession but photographer by passion, Akhil’s unique style and finesse has lent a new curve to fashion photography in Eastern India. Hailing from a family of artists, Akhil inherited an eye for beauty from his grandmother, Lt. Chandrakala Devi, a national award winner for Madhubani paintings, and his cousin brother Sharad Kumar, who received the prestigious award for Paper Mache sculpture from former president A. P. J Abdul Kalam. Akhil’s journey with photography started with his childhood friend Kodak KB 10, and before he realized he had created a benchmark for himself in the temple city.
Akhil’s quintessential style reflects his eye for quaint beauty gathered from the places he traveled, people he met and cultures he lived. His works have been featured in national dailies such as ‘The Telegraph’, and elite magazines of the city such as ‘My City Links’ and Dharitri. He has been the official photographer for NIFT, Kolkata and Fbb Femina Miss Odisha India 2015.The maverick grabbed the attention of internationally acclaimed fashion designer Pritam Panda, and is now the official photographer of haute couture Raas. His fingers have clicked the style canvas of fashion stores such as Flounge, NavyaNavelli; and lifestyle stores such as Nimantran Silver Emporium and Suman Fashions, Wood Art, brochures for Xaviers Institute of Management (XIMB) Bhubaneswar. Team Akhil Photography has been the photography partner for much hyped Bhubaneswar Style Week 2017 and JDIFT Annual Design Award 2017, Bhubaneswar.
The 27 year old added yet another feather to his cap with appreciations flowing in from celebrity photographers Dabboo Ratnani and Sudhir Shivram. And, if this was not enough to certify his exquisite magic, the young lad has also clicked Bollywood beauties Soha Ali Khan, Nandita Das, and Aditi Singh Sharma apart from other influential Indians including Chetan Bhagat, Aarav Singh, Saswat Joshi, Rex D Souza, Benny Dayal, KK, Dr. Kanwal Vilku, and Sri Sri Ravishankara.
Akhil took yet another leap to explore wedding photography and traveled across India, capturing candid memories with his team. He ensures every picture narrates a story. As a fashion photographer he feels the colorful and vibrant Indian weddings are grand fashion events, where one can find people as models of different age groups in their best attire and mood.
He also shapes the artistic instincts of budding photographers, with him mentoring and taking them along the stepping stones.
Akhil’s approach towards every project with the same fervor and excitement of his inception years is credible. His quest for that exquisite frame shall take him through many more milestones.
